It is powered by a 2.0 Liter Turbo engine capable of producing 275 horsepower.
Taking advantage of the lights of Detroit, Hyundai presents the first model of its sports range called N for the American continent: the Veloster N.
The model is based on the second generation of the Veloster, which was also uncovered at the Detroit Motor Show 2018, and makes it a real hot hatch, at the level of the i30 N exhibited in Europe only a few months ago.
The visual changes are not minor : an exclusive design grille for the model, more aggressive fascia’s, larger and more functional air intakes, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Supersport or Pirelli P-Zero tires (depending on size) ), side skirts, spoiler and rear diffuser larger, and a double exhaust of specific design, one on each side.
The interior is also different in design and finishes. It incorporates sports seats and steering wheel, leather upholstery with coloured stitching, markers with the blue tones of the N range and a sporty design.
Under the engine is the first big change, since the Veloster N uses the same block of the i30 N: a 2.0 Turbo with 275 Hpand 260lb-ft of torque. This block is associated with a six-speed manual box, although the brand has not delivered performance figures.
The chassis was also optimized with a limited slip differential, a specific suspension that includes electronic adjustment shocks and thicker stabilizer bars, while the brakes are offered with ventilated 13.6-inch discs as an option. The Veloster N will also offer the N Grin Control system, which has five preconfigured driving modes, including an ultra-sporty N mode.
The model will reach US dealerships by the end of 2018. There is nothing confirmed for Mexico, but undoubtedly, Hyundai needs such a striking model in our market.
